Keep Original Medicare as your primary insurance.

Choose a Medicare Advantage Plan.
Get all your Medicare coverage through an insurance company in place of Original Medicare.
Important Enrollment Periods
| Enrollment period | When | What you can do |
|---|---|---|
| Initial Enrollment Period (IEP) | 7 months: the 3 months before your 65th birthday month, your birthday month, and the 3 months after | Enroll in Part A & B, a Part D plan, or a Medicare Advantage plan |
| Medicare Supplement Open Enrollment | 6 months starting the month your Part B takes effect (age 65+) | Buy any Medicare Supplement plan with no medical questions |
| Annual Enrollment Period (AEP) | October 15 – December 7 | Join, switch, or drop Medicare Advantage or Part D for the following year |
| Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment | January 1 – March 31 | If already in a Medicare Advantage plan, make one change or return to Original Medicare |
| General Enrollment Period | January 1 – March 31 | Sign up for Part A and/or B if you missed your IEP (coverage starts the month after you enroll) |
| Special Enrollment Periods | Varies by event | Moving, losing employer coverage, Medicaid changes, and other qualifying events |
